2020 Honda City teaser

Honda Cars India have plans to launch the new gen City sedan by March 2020. Here is the new teaser.

Already launched in Thailand, the new-gen Honda City sedan is now getting ready to be launched in India. Spied recently testing in Pune, near ARAI facility, homologation of the new City is under process, and is expected to be completed soon.

Speaking about design, its exteriors are inspired from the larger Honda cars like Civic and Accord. Highlights include new LED headlamps at the front, new and rear and a well sculpted boot lid. Interiors are seen in a dual tone colour scheme with a new touchscreen infotainment system, digital instrument console and adjustable headrests. New gen Honda City is also expected to get eSIM powered connected car technologies, which we have seen in cars like MG Hector, Kia Seltos, etc.

The 2020 Honda City boasts of a range of onboard safety equipment. These include a total of 6 airbags, ABS, EBD, vehicle stability assist, hill start assist and reverse camera. The new sedan is also with a G-CON (G-Force Control) body structure.

In Thailand, the 2020 Honda City gets its power via a 1.0 liter, 3 cylinder, VTEC turbocharged petrol engine offering 122 PS power and 173 Nm torque mated to a CVT gearbox. The other engine will be a 1.5 liter e:HEC mild hybrid petrol unit mated to a CVT and 6 speed manual transmission.

Powering the new Honda City in India will most likely be the same engine setup, which is seen on board the current City, but with BS6 powertrains. The current City has already been updated to BS6 for petrol engine. The diesel 1.5 liter mill has also been updated to BS6, but it has only been launched on board the Amaze as of now.

Expect the BS6 powertrains to deliver similar power and torque output figures as seen on board the current City. The 1.5 liter petrol iVTEC in BS4 guise delivers about 118 PS while the 1.5 liter iDTEC diesel delivers 100 PS. Transmission options will include manual as well as automatic.
