2020 Hyundai Creta front grille different for India – Spied on video

With launch of the 2020 Creta getting closer, new details have emerged. Already launched in China as the ix25, the new gen Hyundai Creta for India will feature be very similar to its Chinese counterpart in design. But there will be some design elements which will be unique to India.

The same has now been spied in the latest 2020 Creta spy video by YouTube channel Power Stroke PS. The video shows the rear and front of the 2020 Creta test mule in India. In this, you can see the front grille, which is different than that of the ix25 in China.

The grille design will be same, but India’s spec Hyundai Creta 2020 version will feature two slats (most likely chrome) in the front grille. Chinese ix25 front grille does not feature the two slats, as seen in the image below. What you can also see that the India-spec Creta features projector headlamps, while the Chinese counterpart has LED headlamps.

This second generation Hyundai Creta, will follow a similar updated design as seen on the ix25 with the 2.0 design language as was also seen on the Venue. The new Creta will be based on the same platform as seen on the Kia Seltos and design elements would include a large cascading grille in the front, split headlamps with LED DRLs and tail lamps which are vertically stacked. Dual tone colour, new alloy wheels and cladding on sides and on wheel arches enhances its sporty appeal.

Dimensions have also increased marginally with the new Hyundai Creta measuring 4,300mm in length, 1,790mm in width and 1,635mm in height. It gets a 2,610mm wheelbase. These dimensions as compared to those seen on the outgoing model increase by 10mm in length and width and by 8mm in height while wheelbase is now longer by 20mm.

The interiors also get updated with a new dashboard layout with a large touchscreen infotainment system, climate controls, fully digital MID and a 360 degree camera. The new Creta will also get an eSIM for Hyundai BlueLink connected car technology and the central console is finished in piano black.

As is also seen on the Kia Seltos, the Creta facelift will be introduced with 4 driving modes of Smart, Sport, Eco and Comfort along with 3 terrain modes Snow, Mud and Sand. Safety features will also be increased as compared to that seen in the current model to include a total of 6 airbags, 4 disc brakes, lane keep assist, front collision warning system and lane departure warning besides ABS and EBD.

The engine lineup on the India spec 2020 Hyundai Creta will be the same as that currently powering the Kia Seltos. These will include a 1.5 liter petrol engine offering 115 PS power and 114 Nm torque, a 1.4 liter turbo petrol engine offering 140 PS power and 242 Nm torque and a 1.5 liter diesel engine capable of 115 PS power and 250 Nm torque. Each of these engines get mated to 6 speed manual transmission as standard. They will also get automatic transmission via CVT, 7 speed DCT and 6 AT respectively. All engines will comply with BS VI emission norms.

Pricing of the new Hyundai Creta is slated between Rs.10-16 lakhs while it will continue to compete with the Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki S-Cross, Nissan Kicks, Renault Captur and Duster. Top variants will also have the likes of MG Hector, Tata Harrier, Jeep Compass, etc in its crosshair.
