After launching the Creta, Verna and Tucson – Hyundai India’s next big launch for 2020 is of new gen i20
With each passing day, the third generation Hyundai i20’s India launch is drawing closer. And as we are heading closer to the actual launch of the hot hatch, more details of the hatchback have started to surface online.
Spy shots have revealed that Hyundai i20 in India will come with first in segment features like electric sunroof, all digital speedometer, etc. Now, a new report reveals that it will get yet another premium feature.
There is a good probability that the 2020 i20 will come along with a Bose sound system on its top end trims. The global variants of the hatchback come with the same system and it comprises of a total of 8-speakers. The front doors will mostly get Super65 speakers which will bring in unparalleled level of audio quality – making it the best in segment.
What is interesting is that the same system was also used in some of the premium models from Audi and Mercedes Benz. If the system makes its way to the Indian i20, the hot hatch would land up having one of the best sounding sound system in its class (and even beyond). 2020 Creta also features the premium BOSE music system.
Hyundai is also planning to up its game in the connected car tech bit. The Bluelink app is expected to get an overhaul. It will mostly get a redesigned interface with greater convenience of use. Even existing Hyundai customers should be able to get this tech update.
Under the hood, the 2020 i20 will be packing 3 engine options, 2 petrol and a diesel. The 1.5 litre diesel guzzler will be available with a 6-speed MT and will be able to dish out 100 PS & 240 Nm of peak torque. The naturally aspirated 1.2 litre petrol motor will be able to dish out 83 PS & 115 Nm of max torque and will be available with a 5-speed manual transmission.
Performance-focused customers might want to choose Hyundai’s 1 litre turbo petrol unit which will be able to churn out 120 PS & 170 Nm of max torque. This motor will be available with a 6-speed manual transmission and a 7-speed DCT. Feature list will certainly be very long, considering that it is a Hyundai. The potential inclusion of the Bose sound system is just a testimony to the same.
Hyundai is planning to launch the third generation i20 around the 2020 festive season. This would mean we can expect cars to arrive in showrooms/dealer yards around September, which is around 8-10 weeks from now.
Post launch, the i20 will be competing with cars like Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Tata Altroz, Honda Jazz, Toyota Glanza and VW Polo. Pricing of the i20 is expected to witness a bump, thanks to all the updates the new generation car will be bringing in.
