Tata Motors has finally released a detailed brochure of the Harrier BS6 which was launched at the Auto Expo
The significantly improved premium crossover retails between INR 13.69 lakh to 20.25 lakh (ex-showroom) which is up to INR 69,000 more than the BS4 Tata Harrier version. The most important change comes in the form of the 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged FCA-derived diesel engine which now produces 170 hp and 350 Nm of torque. That’s a good 30 hp more than the BS4 model.
In addition to more power, the engine is claimed to have gotten more refined than before. The BS6 model also receives the eagerly anticipated automatic transmission option which is a 6-speed torque converter unit. Below are the detailed specs of the new Harrier BS6.

Visually, the 2020 Tata Harrier BS6 doesn’t feature any drastic revision since the design is just a year old and still feels fresh. The car receives a new Calypso Red exterior colour option, larger 17-inch alloy wheels and revised (more aerodynamic) wing mirror housings. The crossover offers optional electrically operated panoramic sunroof with rain-sensing closure. Customers of higher variants can opt for dual-tone colour schemes (Calypso Red – Atlas Black and Orcus White – Atlas Black).
Inside, the design and layout has been carried forward but the cabin gains an additional USB port and an improved touchscreen infotainment system. Other highlights include 6-way electrically adjustable driver seat with lumbar support and auto-dimming interior rear view mirrors.
In terms of equipment, the 2020 Tata Harrier will now offer ESP (Electronic Stabilization Program) as standard feature across all the variants. Feature highlights include traction control, hill descent control, hill hold assist and so on. Below is the detailed variants-wise feature list on offer with BS6 Tata Harrier 2020.

The Tata Harrier is also set to receive a petrol engine option in the coming months. The new motor in question is a four-cylinder 1.5-liter Revotron direct-injection turbocharged unit. The motor’s basic architecture is based on the three-cyilnder 1.2-liter unit that currently serves the Altroz and Nexon. The engine which is expected to be available only with a 6-speed manual gearbox initially is estimated to develop around 150 hp and 250 Nm of torque.
Given that the Indian automaker generally inclined towards petrol engines, we expect the new variant to result in significant increment sales. The prototypes are currently undergoing homologation process, suggesting that launch is no far away.
