Tata Motors has signed-up power couple Milind Soman and Ankita Konwar, who are driving the Nexon electric from Manali to Leh currently.

Tata Tigor electric has already been launched in India. The next electric car to be launched is Nexon Electric SUV. This was confirmed officially by Tata Motors earlier today. New Tata Nexon electric will be priced in the Rs 15 lakh to Rs 17 lakh range, confirms Tata Motors.

Launch of the 2020 Tata Nexon electric will take place by March 2020. It will make global debut at the 2020 Auto Expo in Feb next year. Upon launch, it will take on the likes of MG ZS electric and Hyundai Kona electric. Compared to these two, Nexon electric will be more affordable.

According to Mr. Shailesh Chandra, President – Electric Mobility Business & Corporate Strategy, Tata Motors Ltd. said, “We are proud to announce that Nexon EV will be available for personal buyers in India from Q4 (Jan-Mar) FY19-20. Powered by the cutting-edge Ziptron technology, Nexon EV promises to address the barriers that exist in the EV market today and will deliver a thrilling on-road performance, ensuring zero emission.

We are also excited to have the famous celebrity couple – Milind Soman and Ankita Konwar on board to share their experience with the EV enthusiasts. We are confident that the new Nexon EV will further raise the bar for electric cars, making EVs an aspirational choice for consumers.”

Nexon EV will be an aspirational SUV for customers looking for a thrilling and connected drive experience. This EV will target a range of about 300 km to address range anxiety. Powered by the state-of-the-art Ziptron technology, Nexon EV will be equipped with an efficient high voltage system, zippy performance, fast charging capability, battery and motor with warranty of 8 years, and adherence to IP67 (dust and water proof) standard.

These specs are much better than that of Tata Tigor electric. Tata Tigor EV gets its power via a 16.2 kWh battery pack that powers a 72V, 3 phase AC induction motor offering 30 kW power at 4,500 rpm and 105 Nm torque at 2,500 rpm. This provides a range of 142 kms on a single charge. The battery pack can be charged via a standard AC socket in 6 hours and via a DC fast charger in 90 minutes upto 80 percent. The Tigor EV is offered with a 3 year /1,25,000 km warranty.

Tata Motors announced the launch of their new electric vehicle website – https://ev.tatamotors.com/ . This new website will exclusively cater to the electric cars / vehicles from Tata Motors.
