An all electric variant of the 2021 Mercedes S Class is in the works under EQS moniker
The eagerly anticipated new generation Mercedes S Class has made its online world premiere and keeping up with the tradition, the luxury limousine sets new benchmark in the automotive industry. The flagship Mercedes-Benz features significantly revised exterior styling and a completely new interior design.
The new S – Exterior
Visually, the profile of the 2021 Mercedes S Class has a familiarity to it but the front and rear fascias adopt a new design approach. The radiator grille has become more prominent than before and it neatly integrates multiple ADAS sensors like Lidar, Radar and Laser.
The new LED headlamps with ‘three-dot’ DRL signature enhances the modern appeal. After three generations, Mercedes-Benz has gone back to horizontal taillight configuration with triangular combination lights.
Interior
The 2021 Mercedes S Class debuts an entirely new design approach for the interior which is expected to slowly trickle down to rest of the automaker’s lineup. The ultra-modern yet minimalist dashboard design features a flowing centre console infotainment display, configurable color TFT instrument console, a new steering wheel and top notch surfaces and rich color combinations.

Equipment
The new S Class is packed up to the grille with new age features not the least of which are an array of safety and ADAS features. Powertrain lineup
The 2021 Mercedes S Class is equipped with a range of modern six-cylinder petrol and diesel engines with various states of tune ranging from 286 hp to 435 hp. A plug-in hybrid variant with pure electric range of up to 100 km is coming next year. The German auto giant is also working on a pure electric variant with a range of 700 km named EQS which is slated to hit the road down the line. Launch
The new Mercedes S Class is expected to reach our shores next year with entry level price tag well north of INR 1 crore mark (ex-showroom).
