Earlier this year, MG announced the launch of facelifted Hector and Hector Plus
Among many foreign mass-market carmakers in India, MG Motor seems to have figured out what Indian car buyers want. Hence, the Chinese-owned British brand has been able to generate good volumes every month. Also, the carmaker constantly provides updates to its lineup in order to remain competitive.
2023 MG Hector Facelift New Alloys
MG launched updated Hector 2023 model earlier this year. It came with a lot of updates on the outside as well as on the inside. What remained the same, was the alloy wheel design.
This was surprising, as earlier spy shots had suggested 2023 Hector to get a new alloy wheel design. Seems like that is soon going to change, 2023 Hector with new alloys has now arrived at the dealer yard. With every update, MG has updated the alloy wheel design of Hector. So when they did not update alloy wheel design with the 2023 Hector update, it was a bit surprising.
Hector 2023 was launched at the Auto Expo in Jan this year. It was priced from Rs 14.73 lakh to Rs 22.43 lakh, ex-sh. Apart from adding new alloys, MG has also updated the engine options to meet BS6 phase 2 emission norms. This will result in a price hike of up to Rs 60,000 for Hector range of SUVs.
Hector was first launched in July 2019. In Feb 2021, it received its first facelift, which involved a few subtle cosmetic updates and some feature upgrades as well. This time, MG concentrated on updating the SUV’s equipment as well as visual updates.
On the outside we got a large new front grill, connected LED tail lamps, and revised bumpers. On the inside, the highlight is largest in segment with a 14 inch touchscreen. It also gets ADAS enabled features.
MG Hector Gets BS6 Phase 2 Compliant
Currently, MG Hector is offered two engine options- a 1.5-litre turbo petrol unit and a 2.0-litre diesel mill. The former churns out 141 bhp and 250 Nm of peak torque whereas the latter kicks out 168 bhp and 350 Nm of peak torque. Both engine options are paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard with the option of a CVT automatic gearbox available with the petrol unit only.
All cars sold in India from 1st April 2023, will need to meet stricter emission norms called BS6 Phase 2. Both engine options of Hector will get updated to meet the new norms. First batch of the updated Hector range has started to arrive at dealer yard across India. Deliveries will start soon.
