Facelifted Harrier and Safari will come with petrol turbo engine option – Along with the existing diesel engine
Tata Harrier and Safari sales are on a decline. Thanks to new arrivals like XUV700, Scorpio N and the facelifted Hector. In Feb 2023, Harrier sales were at 2,054 units while that of Safari were at 1,252. In comparison, XUV700 sales were at 4,505 units and that of Hector was at 2,558 units. To boost sales, Tata Motors is getting ready to launch facelifted Harrier and Safari later this year.
2024 Tata Harrier facelift spied – Clearest interior shots
Facelifted Harrier and Safari get a new front design, which is inspired by the Harrier EV concept that was showcased at the 2023 Auto Expo. Though the test mules are wearing circular headlamps, these are just temporary units for the sake of testing. Production spec model will get triangular LED headlight assembly and lower grille as seen in the Harrier EV.
There will be minor revisions to front and rear bumpers. The test mule does not show any revision to the tail light design, but production-spec models can be different. We can also get to see new alloys. Tata Motors may also add rear disc brake as a standard fitment to Harrier.
Harrier Facelift Interiors Spied In Detail
On the inside, there is a new touchscreen infotainment screen. This is the same 10.2” unit found on Altroz Racer prototype with a slicker user interface. Instrument display will be revamped to include a fully-digital unit.
Tata Safari and Harrier test mules feature square modules at lower bumpers confirming ADAS features at least with top-spec models. 360-degree cameras have been spotted with ORVM-mounted cameras too. Tata Motors could also offer front and rear seat ventilation with top-spec XZ+ trims.
All New Petrol Engine From Tata Motors
Earlier, Tata Motors had revealed there was not enough demand for petrol Harrier and Safari. And this is why they have not launched a petrol engine option with Safari / Harrier. But things have changed in recent months. With diesel engines getting discontinued from passenger cars, due to stringent emission norms, more and more manufacturers are shifting to petrol / hybrid fuel options.
At the Auto Expo 2023, Tata Motors revealed their new petrol 1.5 liter turbo engine, which will power the facelifted Harrier and Safari. This engine will deliver 170 PS and 280 Nm, making it one of the most powerful petrol SUV on offer. Transmission option on offer will include manual as well as automatic.
Diesel 2.0 liter engine will continue to be on offer as is, with the updated Harrier and Safari. This engine delivers 170 PS and 350 Nm via 6 speed MT or AT. Thanks to the launch of petrol engine, expect the entry price of Harrier and Safari to be reduced by about Rs 1 lakh. 2024 Harrier facelift, Safari facelift launch is expected around Diwali 2023.
