2018 Maruti Ertiga spied testing with new 6 speed manual gearbox

Set for launch in India sometime later this year, just ahead of the festive season, 2018 Maurit Suzuki Ertiga is currently undergoing tests. Spyshots have surfaced online drawing attention to various exterior and interior features while engine specifications have also been detailed.

Already launched in Indonesia, the new Maruti MPV will be bigger than the older Ertiga. Based on a lighter platform, engine performance has gone up, and so has fuel efficiency. Expect price to also go up marginally.

2018 Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is among two other new cars being planned for launch which include the Ciaz facelift and new generation WagonR. The new Ertiga will be based on the Heartect platform and will sport increased dimensions even as wheelbase continues to measure 2,740mm. Headroom and legroom in all three rows has been increased considerably. Boot space is also increased.

The new Ertiga MPV gets a new front grille and sleek headlamps, revamped bumper design and strong crease lines. Interiors sport a completely redesigned dashboard, flat bottom steering wheel, rear split seats and a host of safety features among which are rear parking sensors, push button start/stop, rain sensing wipers, dual front airbags and ABS with EBD.

Where engine specifications are concerned, the 1.5 liter petrol engine powering the Indonesia spec model will be making its way to India. The 1.3 liter diesel engine, seen on its earlier counterpart, will be swapped with an indigenously developed 1.5 liter diesel engine also seen powering the 2018 Maruti Ciaz.

Along with the new engine lineup, Maruti Suzuki could also introduce a 6 speed manual transmission as well, as confirmed in the latest spy shots.
