2020 Hyundai Tucson bookings open – Specs, engines, variants, features

Scoop – 2020 Hyundai Tucson bookings have been opened for a token amount of Rs 25,000. It will only be offered in automatic transmission option. No manual option on offer.

Hyundai India dealers have started accepting bookings for the 2020 Tucson, for a token amount of Rs 25,000. The facelifted avatar of the second-gen Hyundai Tucson (third-gen globally) was showcased at Auto Expo 2020. The first-generation Hyundai Tucson was introduced in the country back in 2005 and the current model has been on the Indian market since 2016.

Now, we bring you all the important details of the new 2020 Hyundai Tucson; the flagship ICE SUV from the South Korean brand (after the discontinuation of the Santa Fe). To start off, the premium SUV (technically, a compact crossover) will be available in three variants: GL 2WD, GLS 2WD and GLS 4WD. While the front-wheel-drive GL and GLS are available in both petrol and diesel formats, the top-end GLS all-wheel-drive comes only with a diesel powertrain. None of the variants come with a manual transmission.

Being a facelift, the proportions are nearly the same as the previous model. At 4480x1850x1660mm, the 2020 Tucson is slightly longer by 5mm. Changes to the exteriors mainly come in the form of revised bumpers, Penta LED projector headlamps (in GLS), LED taillights, new 18-inch diamond-cut wheels, etc. On the inside, the SUV gets 10-way power-adjustable driver seat, 8-way powered co-passenger seat, dual-zone climate control, Blue Link connectivity, wireless charging, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system (with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Hyundai iBlue and voice commands) and a panoramic sunroof.

In terms of safety and assists, the 2020 Hyundai Tucson features three driving modes (Eco, Smart and Pro), front parking sensors, ESC, Hill Descent Control, Hill Assist, puddle lamps, etc. All the features mentioned above are standard. On the other hand, the GLS 2WD gets cornering lamps, powered tailgate and electric parking brake. The GLS 4WD variant with HTRAC all-wheel-drive system gets Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) as well. The Hyundai Tucson has achieved a five-star NCAP safety rating in 2015, 2016 and 2019. Below are the detailed variant-wise features of new Hyundai Tucson BS6 facelift.

Coming to the engine department, the 2.0-litre diesel motor makes 182bhp and 400Nm while mated to an 8-speed automatic. On the other hand, the 2.0-litre petrol unit is good for 150bhp (-3bhp) and 192Nm of torque. It is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Hyundai India offers three warranty schemes for the 2020 Tucson: 3 years/unlimited kms, 4 years/60,000 kms and 5 years/50,000kms. Other options include 3 years/30,000 kms free maintenance, 3 years roadside assistance and 3 years Bluelink subscription. The ex-showroom prices for the outgoing BS4 Hyundai Tucson are currently in the range of Rs 19-27 lakh and expect the figures to be slightly higher for the new BS6 2020 model.
