The latest two-wheeler to get BS-VI upgrade is Yamaha Fascino, which has been launched with a new 125 cc Fi engine. The scooter also gets new features and cosmetic upgrades. To understand how it stacks up against other BS6 scooters, here’s a quick comparison between Yamaha Fascino BS6 and its rivals. Honda Activa vs Yamaha Fascino vs Vespa BS6 scooters.

Design & styling: Yamaha Fascino 125 FI BS6 derives inspiration from classic European styling and comes with an all-new exterior design. At the front, the scooter gets new headlight, updated instrument cluster, and metal front fender. Chrome accents have been liberally used, as is evident in the headlight, rear view mirrors, front turn signals, and side panels. At the rear, the scooter gets a trendy V-shaped tail light. New Fascino is also offering exciting colour options such as Vivid Red, Yellow Cocktail, Cyan Blue, Matte Blue, Metallic Black, Dark Matte Blue and Suave Copper.

Honda Activa 125 BS6 was launched in September and it also features a range of cosmetic upgrades. Activa BS6 comes with new LED headlamp with reflectors, chrome accents on side panels and a snazzy tail lamp. Customers can choose from colour options such as Heavy Grey Metallic, Black, Rebel Red Metallic, Pearl Precious White, Midnight Blue Metallic and Majestic Brown Metallic.

Vespa 125 BS6 is yet to be launched, but spy shots have revealed that it will continue using the same set of features as earlier. Vespa 125 already has an attractive design with key features such as chrome infused headlamp, minimalistic yet elegant bodywork, and chrome plated exhaust. BS6 model comes with an updated semi-digital instrument console, featuring a different background as compared to that of outgoing model.

Engine: Fascino BS6 is powered by a new 125 cc Fi engine that generates max power of 8.2 PS @ 6,500 rpm and max torque of 9.7 Nm @ 5,000 rpm. Not only it is less polluting, but the new engine also delivers 30% more power and 16% higher fuel efficiency. The latter is made possible by reduced weight of 99 kg (4 kg lighter than outgoing model) and engine stop and start system. New engine is also equipped with smart motor generator (SMG), which ensures quieter engine start.

Activa 125 BS6 is powered by a 124 cc engine that churns out 8.30 PS power at 6,500 rpm and 10.3 Nm torque at 5,000 rpm. The engine is equipped with eSP technology that improves power output and fuel efficiency. Other key features include Idling Stop System that helps save fuel, ACG Starter Motor for silent ignition, and sensor-based advanced PGM-FI system. Activa’s BS6 engine delivers 13% more mileage than its predecessor.

Vespa 125 BS6 gets its power from a 125 cc engine that makes 10.30 PS power and 9.6 Nm torque. The engine is equipped with electronic injection with throttle body, which enhances power and improves fuel efficiency.

Price: Fascino BS6 disc variant is priced at Rs 69,930 (ex-showroom, Delhi). In comparison, Activa disc variant is priced at Rs 74,490. Vespa BS6 is priced from around Rs 93k. Front drum brake variant prices start from Rs 67.5k for Activa and Rs 66.4k for Fascino.

All-new Yamaha Fascino BS6 comes across as a good option with its trendy design, powerful engine, and new features. However, the dependability of bestselling Honda Activa cannot be undermined. If you can afford a slightly higher price, Vespa 125 BS6 can also work as a viable option.
