Isuzu V-Cross, MU-X BS6 variants to arrive in showrooms next month

Isuzu is probably the only automotive brand in India that hasn’t yet officially launched any BS6 cars

It has been more than five months since Indian automotive industry made the mandatory transition from BS4 to BS6 emission norms. However, there is one automotive brand, who is yet to roll out any BS6 compliant products. It is Isuzu India. However, if reports are to be believed then BS6 compliant stock of Isuzu vehicles will be reaching showrooms from next month.

Earlier, it was reported that Isuzu had to postpone the launch of BS6 vehicles to second quarter of 2020-21 due to the ongoing pandemic. As per sources, some dealers have revealed that new Isuzu BS6 cars (V-Cross as well as the MU-X) could be expected to go on sale starting next month.

Supreme Court Ruling

Currently, select dealers are busy dispatching the BS4 compliant vehicles to their owners which had been registered under their own names before the deadline. It is to be noted, in a recent order made by the Supreme Court, BS4 compliant cars and bikes which were sold before March 31 deadline but could not be registered due to Covid-19 pandemic, would be able to register their vehicles.

This comes in as a huge relief for dealers who had sold BS4 vehicles in the stipulated timeframe. The ruling was made following an affidavit filed by Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA). Previously, on 8th of July, the Apex court had recalled its March 27 order which allowed limited sales of unsold BS4 stocks for 10 days except for Delhi-NCR region, post lifting of nationwide lockdown.

Isuzu, like many others, is offering heavy discounts of up to Rs 1- 1.5 lakh on unsold BS4 vehicles along with attractive offers such as a free maintenance package of 3 years/ 1 lakh kilometers. In such cases, buyers will be second owners, since dealers are the first owners (on paper). Prior to this, auto dealers were finding it extremely difficult to liquidate their unsold BS4 inventory.

Isuzu Product Offerings In India

Isuzu currently offers three products in India; D-Max, V-Cross and MU-X. While the D-Max is a commercial purpose pick-up truck, V-Cross is a lifestyle utility vehicle with very good off-road capabilities. On the other hand, MU-X is a premium full-size SUV that competes with the likes of Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour and Mahindra Alturas G4.

Pricing of BS6 Isuzu vehicles is expected to be increased in the region of Rs 1-2 lakhs. More details will be revealed next month, once the BS6 Isuzu cars are launched.
