Jeep Compass Trailhawk SUV trio spied on test – Launch may boost declining sales

Jeep Compass Trailhawk has been spied on test along the Delhi-Mumbai highway. It is set for launch in India by the end of this year and is promised with a host of new features and a diesel automatic configuration.

New Trailhawk boasts of an aggressive design. It gets a massive front bumper, anti scratch mat on bonnet and 20mm higher ground clearance as compared to regular Compass variants at 198mm. It also sports dual tome 17” alloy wheels fitted with all season tyres and receives an all black treatment on chrome parts. Interiors are seen in black with red accents on seats giving it a sporty stance.

Jeep Trailhawk diesel automatic also boasts of better approach – 30 degrees and departure – 33.6 angles, gets an anti glare bonnet decal and skid plate. The Trailhawk will also receive a touchscreen infotainment system offering Apple CarPlay and Android Auto along with a 7” TFT color dashboard and function pack.

Exuding offroad capabilities, it gets a four wheel drive system with low range and Rock model on its Selec-Terrain 4WD mode selector. The Trailhawk will be powered by a 2.0 liter Multijet diesel engine offering 170 bhp power and 350 Nm torque mated to a 9 speed torque converter automatic transmission. The engine will comply with BS VI emission norms that will be coming into effect by 2020.

In terms of safety, it will get electrically operated interior rear view mirrors, electric folding ORVMs and smartkey along with start button and an anti theft device.

New Compass TrailHawk is slated to be priced at around Rs 25 lakhs; making it the most expensive variant of the Compass in India. Sales of Compass have declined over the past few months. From a peak of about 2,500 units monthly average, the sales are down to 1,000- 1,200 units monthly. Launching new feature loaded variant might help Jeep India to bring in a boost as far as their sales are concerned.
