In comparison with rivals, Maruti Swift petrol has almost identical power and torque values to Hyundai Elite i20, while Punto EVO 1.2 litre version is the least powerful with 68 PS and 95 Nm, and just above stands Volkswagen Polo 1.2 MPI variant giving out 75 PS and 110 Nm. Most powerful petrol hatch of the lot is Polo GT TSI, with 105 PS max power and 175 Nm peak torque.
Diesel variant comparison shows Maruti Swift is least powerful with 75 PS max power and 190 Nm peak torque. Punto EVO lower trim gives out 76 PS and 197 Nm, while Sports variant throws 92.72 PS and 209 Nm. Hyundai Elite i20 records output of 90 PS and 220 Nm, while Volkswagen Polo‘s new 1.5 TDI generates 90 PS and 230 Nm. Most powerful model, again, is Volkswagen Polo in its GT TDI tune, which blasts 105 PS and 250 Nm.
Maruti Swift remains to be the most affordable in its segment, at Rs. 4.42 lakhs for base variant and 5.90 lakhs for top end trim (ex-showroom Delhi). Fiat Punto EVO is most expensive at Rs. 6.65 lakhs, but massive power seekers will have to shell out Rs. 7.99 lakhs for Volkswagen Polo GT TSI. In case of diesel hatchbacks, Punto EVO is least expensive at Rs. 5.27 lakhs, while most expensive is Rs. 7.67 lakhs for Elite i20 and Rs. 7.99 lakhs for Polo GT TDI.
