Mercedes Auto Expo cars and new brand motto – Restless for Tomorrow

AMG GT 63 S

Mercedes-Benz is arguably India’s most favourite luxury car manufacturer, boasting of more than 25 glorious years of service in the country.

The German automaker sees India as a high-priority market and has introduced a wide range of exciting products over the years. In case you did not know, Mercedes-Benz India was the first brand to launch a BS6-compliant product well ahead of the mandated deadline of 1 April 2020, in the form of the W222 S Class luxury saloon.

Now, the company plans to showcase some of the best from its global portfolio at the upcoming Auto Expo 2020, including the world’s fastest four-seater — the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S. The performance sedan was unveiled back at the 2018 Geneva International Motor Show as the four-door version of the AMG GT supercar. Mercedes-Benz Pavilion will be located at Hall No. 15 and will reflect the brand’s motto for 2020, ‘Restless for Tomorrow’.

New GLA

The showcase also hints to a possibility of the brand launching the car in the Indian market, sometime in the near future. Mercedes-Benz India already sells a wide range of AMG products in the country such as the C 43 (sedan and coupe), CLA 45, GLA 45, SLC 43, GLC 43, GLE 43, C 63 S, E 63 S, S 63 (sedan and coupe), G 63, GT S, GT Roadster and the top-of-the-line GT R. The AMG GT 63 is a fitting addition to this list and would be priced above the S 63 Coupe as the most expensive Mercedes sedan available in the country, besides the likes of the Mercedes-Maybach range.

In its highest 4Matic+ all-wheel-drive format, the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S sedan’s 4.0-litre Biturbo V8 engine churns out around 630bhp and 900Nm of torque. The 9-speed AMG Speedshift automatic transmission promises lightning-fast shifts. Put together, the AMG GT 63 S can attain 100km/h from a standstill in just 3.2 seconds before it tops out at 315km/h (electronically limited).

A Class Limousine

Even though the performance-car segment of the Indian automotive market is quite a niche, Mercedes-AMG is one of the prominent names in the category, regardless of the vehicle body type. Furthermore, Mercedes-Benz has got six exclusive AMG Performance Centres in the country to create a unique experience hub for its performance division.

Besides the entire existing Indian range, the AMG GT 63 S is not the only new product to be showcased at the Mercedes-Benz pavilion at Auto Expo 2020. The A-Class sedan, GLA, GLC, GLE, AMG A 35, etc., will share space at the pavilion in their latest global avatar. The brand’s all-electric EQC 400 4Matic will also be a highlight, in its new Edition 1886 format. In short, Mercedes-Benz India’s pavilion will be quite a spectacle at Auto Expo 2020.
