MG Hector photos detailed from Media Test Drive in Coimbatore

New MG Hector is a premium SUV, which will launch in India later this month. Ahead of that, MG India organized media test drive event, in Coimbatore. The drive was from Coimbatore to Kotagiri-Kodanad view point and back.

We drove the car for an entire day, but cannot give our opinion / review on the car till 14th June, as the same is under embargo. What we can share from the drive event, are the detailed photos and tech specs of the car along with mileage.

MG Hector will come in with four variants – Style, Super, Smart and Sharp and five color options of Aurora Silver, Candy White, Starry Black, Burgundy Red and Colored Glaze Red.

MG Hector will be the largest SUV in its class. It will measure 4655 mm in length, 1835 mm in width and 1760 mm in height. It will sit on a set of 10 spoke 17” alloy wheels and gets exterior feature such as large ORVMs with integrated turn signals, a large mesh grille with chrome surrounds, a headlamp assembly mounted on the bumper along with daytime running lights on top. The new Hector also gets a bulky shoulder line and short overhangs while gloss black plastic elements enhance its premium appeal.

Interiors of MG Hector borrow features from MG Baojun 530 and the Roewe RX5. It gets a panoramic sun roof, ambient lighting and a fully digital 10.4” portrait oriented touchscreen instrument cluster.

The interiors spell comfort with leather seats, soft touch material on the dash board and chrome surrounds for AC vents. The seats are power adjustable while safety features include 6 airbags, lane assist, cruise control, electronic parking brake and a 360 degree camera. It will be seen with state of the art connectivity technology that includes iSMART with more than 50 features.

MG Hector will be powered by both petrol and diesel engine options along with a petrol hybrid system. The petrol engine will be a 1.5 liter turbocharged petrol engine offering 143 PS power and 250 Nm torque. The Fiat sourced 2.0 liter turbo diesel engine will make 170 PS power and 350 Nm torque.

Both engines get a 6 speed manual gearbox as standard while the petrol engine also has a 6 speed DCT automatic option. Customers will also be presented with the option of a 48V Hybrid System. Mileage is expected to stand at 14.16 kmpl for the petrol MT going down to 13.96 kmpl for the petrol DCT. The diesel engine will be capable of 17.41 kmpl fuel efficiency while the hybrid petrol variant will offer 15.81 kmpl.

Once launched, MG Hector will compete with Tata Harrier, Mahindra XUV500, Jeep Compass and Hyundai Creta. Below are the detailed images of the new MG Hector.
