After teasing fans for quite some time with its guessing game, the official name of Tata 45X has finally been announced as ‘Altroz‘. Tata Altroz will make its debut at Geneva International Motor Show 2019 and will be launched in India by Oct 2019.
The name Altroz has been derived from Albatross bird that can fly thousands of miles without a break. Altroz signifies agility, performance and efficiency and it is set to redefine the premium hatchback segment in the country.
Altroz will be Tata’s first car to utilize ALFA (Agile Light Flexible Advanced) Architecture, which is flexible, modular and lightweight. ALFA Architecture can be utilized to design various new models in the shortest possible development cycle. Altroz will have sporty, aerodynamic look and feel with its slim LED headlamps, stylish lower grille, LED tail lamps, and chrome finisher at the rear. It will have plush interiors and offer superior infotainment experience and a range of innovative technologies.
Tata Altroz will be a true head turner on the roads with its sporty and dynamic exteriors, which is based on IMPACT 2.0 design language. Key features include concealed rear door handles located in C-Pillar, 16-inch alloy wheels, freestanding central display and semi-digital instrument cluster. Engine options for Altroz could include a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated three-cylinder petrol engine that will have mild-hybrid technology for improved efficiency. Diesel variant will be powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine. Transmission options will include manual as well as automatic.
Expected to work as a replacement for Bolt, Tata Altroz will be launched sometime in Sep or Oct. Projected starting price is in the range of Rs 5.50 lakh (ex-showroom). Altroz will take on rivals such as Maruti Baleno, Hyundai i20 and Honda Jazz. In 2020, a sedan version of Altroz is also expected to be launched, which will compete with Hyundai Verna, Honda City, Maruti Ciaz and other premium sedans. Apart from Altroz, Tata Motors will be unveiling three new cars at Geneva Motor Show 2019. Tata Harrier is also expected to be showcased to the entire world.
