Maruti, Hyundai and Honda lead in top 10 car sales list for July 2014

At top of the list of highest selling passenger vehicles is Maruti Suzuki DZire with 18,634 units sold in July 2014. This was followed by another much preferred car, Maruti Alto with 16,997 units sold. Alto was at the top of the list last year but has been recently dethroned by DZire due to many buyers upgrading from Alto to DZire.

In third slot was Maruti Swift with 15,703 units sold last month while WagonR stood in fourth position with 11,762 units sold. The fifth MSIL product, Maruti Suzuki Celerio was at No. 8 position with 6,394 units sold with higher demand being shown towards the AMT variant which commands a longer waiting period.

Honda Cars India step in next with its new Honda City coming in fifth position with 7,705 units sold followed by the Hyundai Grand i10 with 7,023 units sold. In seventh place is the Hyundai Xcent compact sedan, followed by Hyundai Eon in ninth position with sales totaling 6,035 units while at the bottom of the list of top 10 sellers in July 2014 is Honda Amaze with sales of 4,507 units down three positions since June 2014. Indica from Tata Motors which ranked ninth on the list in July 2013 failed to find place on this list in Jul 2014 as the Verna and i20 from Hyundai.

From this list it may be noted that on the list of top selling passenger cars in India, it only four of these that fall in the small and sub INR 4 lakh category while the other six are sedans and premium hatchbacks.
