Uber to provide new work opportunities in Tamil Nadu

Uber has signed an agreement with Government of Tamil Nadu which will raise work and entrepreneurship opportunities for around 30,000 in the state. As per the agreement between the two parties, in which Uber will be investing $35 million in Tamil Nadu and through which solutions to make Chennai a city of the future could be possible.

As a part of the MoU signed at Global Investors Meet on Thursday, Uber will be working along with the state government in framing rules and regulations in the taxi hailing space and will give 30,000 entrepreneurship opportunities over next five years.

Without spending much on advertising, Uber has always been dependent word-of-mouth marketing. Seen above is Bollywood actor Konkana Sen Sharma using the Uber service.

Uber is planning attractive offers in the next few months. As a pilot project, the company partnered with Airtel to offer free 4G WiFi in cars in Mumbai and Delhi. This is also not the first MoU signed by Uber, as earlier this year the company had signed a similar agreement with the Government of Telangana for setting up a new facility in Hyderabad, where they promise to hire over 5,000 persons over next 5 years.

Through these initiatives and investments, Uber is projecting itseln as an projected as an India friendly company. The company also actively competes with Ola, which claims to command an 80% taxi market share in India. In order to up the game, Uber has introduced India-only features like hiring country President, cash payment, hiring auto-rickshaws, SOS features, etc.

Today, Uber operates in 22 cities in the country and has over 1,65,000 drivers on its platform. Uber claims to be a leader in terms of technology platforms and quality services offered with market share of 35%.
