Zero SR, DS electric motorcycles showcased at 2016 Indonesia Auto Show (GIIAS)

The Zero SR and DS pure electric motorcycles are on display at 2016 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS). The California-based electric two wheeler manufacturer is aiming to be one of the early movers in the Indonesian market.

Zero SR

The SR can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in 3.3 seconds.

The Zero SR is an edgy compact motorcycle which looks like a conventional street fighter at first glance. The electric motor is located in the usual place of an IC engine and is connected to the wheel via a belt drive.

The SR comes in two variants – ZF 12.5 and ZF 12.5 + Power Tank. Both variants are powered by a 67 hp electric motor which has an impressive torque output of 144 Nm. 0-100 kmph comes in a superbike rivalling 3.3 seconds and the top speed stands at 164 kmph.

The base variant gets 12.5 KWh battery which is good for a range of max 243 km while the top-end variant’s 15.3 KWh battery has a max range of 298 km.

Zero DS

The DS is being showcased as a cafe racer.

The stock DS (Dual Sport) looks identical to the SR. Apparently Zero doesn’t wanna spend all its money on coming up with different designs. Instead, it focuses on offering as many running gear configurations as possible. That said, the DS show bike in Indonesia adopts a cafe racer body style.

The DS can be specified with three different power banks – 9.4, 12.5, and 15.3 KWh based on the customers’ range requirements. The electric motor is a 54 hp unit which produces a torque output of 92 Nm. The least durable power bank is claimed to last for 3.76 lakh km.

The bike has a top speed of 158 kmph and can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in 5.2 seconds. The top-end variant has a max range of 274 km.
