Ather Dot electric scooter charger launched – Free with Ather 450

Since launch last year, Ather has been working with customers to make improvements and changes to its Ather 450 electric scooter. One such change is taking the charger off-board. Taking it off improves weight distribution, and vehicle dynamics, without any severe changes in charging performance.

Ather Dot electric charger launch – called Ather Dot. Learning from feedback, the new charging point is smaller, lighter, and easy to install. Ather Dot is fitted with surge protection and authenticated power transfer. This makes it safe and compatible with only an Ather scooter.

Ather Dot features auto cut-off and app integration. Ather Dot’s overnight charging time stands at 4 hours and 30 minutes for upto 80 percent SOC. 0 to 100 percent takes 5 hours and 15 minutes.

Data learning has helped Ather determine that charging patterns for a majority of owners in Bangalore is either an overnight activity, or during the day at the workplace. The revised slight spike in charging time will not affect charging behaviour or usage.

Charging time via the Ather Dot remains same as via Ather Grid. The company has introduced the option of of paid installation of Ather Dot. This will include standard installation, consumables, and labour charges. The service will cost Rs 1,800 (incl. GST). There is no cost of the charger. Ather Dot comes free with the purchase of Ather scooter.

For owners who would rather their local electrician install Ather Dot, the process has been simplified. An installation manual will be provided to owners. The charging point will be shipped to once payment for Ather 450 is made, and prior its delivery.

Ather Dot will be delivered to customers in Chennai alongwith their Ather 450. In Bangalore, customers getting their vehicle after October 2019 will receive the new charging point alongside. Its DC charger weighs in at 3.5 kgs. Dot’s bolt mounted with a wraparound feature. The new 12A 60V dove grey home charging unit makes for easy installation.

This electric tide is for everyone to ride, and that sees Ather keen on making an entry in other cities in the country. And Hyderabad is one such destination where the company plans to head next. Depending on ride mode, one can get a ride range between 55-75 kms. Price of Ather scooters starts from Rs 1.02 lakhs, on-road.
