Audi Q3 India production is a go: Joins A4, A6, Q5 and Q7

Seit September 2007 produziert das Unternehmen am Standort Aurangabad im indischen Bundesstaat Maharashtra. Im Werk Skoda Auto India Private Limited (SAIPL) werden gegenwaertig der Audi A4, der neue Audi A6 sowie der Audi Q5 montiert.Audi India sales for Jan to Aug 2013 sales stand at 6426 units, an impressive 19% increase compared to same period last year. Apart from being one of their best-selling models, Audi Q3 is also the best selling compact luxury SUV in the country. Last month, Audi India launched a new edition of the Q3, called Q3 S Edition. This one features a less powerful engine, and manual gearbox. It is priced at Rs 24.99 lakh ex-showroom Delhi.

To keep up with the growth, Audi India has also revealed that their annual production capacity now stands at 13,000 units. Speaking about beginning of local production, Dr. Frank Dreves, Audi Board Member for Production, said, “Local production of the Audi Q3 is part of our long-term growth strategy in India, one of the most promising auto markets in the world. The infrastructure in the plant, efficient working processes, qualified workforce and a well-developed logistics environment, along with the growth potential of the Indian market, were the factors that motivated us to expand the product portfolio at the Aurangabad plant.”

Commenting about the development, Joe King, Head, Audi India said, “Local production of the Audi Q3 means that Audi India is now building all our Q range models locally. This will reduce waiting times for our customers and will enable us to offer a wider range of versions in the market. This move demonstrates our confidence in the success of our Q range, which has positioned itself as a leader not only in the product category, but has emerged as a lifestyle statement. We are confident that we will continue to retain our dominance in the luxury SUV segment in India.”
