Audi Q3 SUV to make its grand entry in India at the Delhi Auto Expo

Audi is all set to bring in their ace in the hole to India. At the Delhi Auto Expo, which is scheduled to go live from 7th January 2012, Audi will be unveiling their Q3 SUV for the first time in India. Built on A5 platform, Q3 is the smallest and the latest SUV from Volkswagen Group’s premium car brand, Audi AG.

Audi Q3 is available in both petrol and diesel powered engine options. In the Audi Q3 petrol variant you will find a 2.0L 4 cylinder turbo engine with output capacity of 168 bhp and 280 Nm torque. Another retuned variant is also on offer which has the same engine but output is increased to 208 bhp and 300 Nm torque. Audi Q3 SUV diesel option is powered by 2.0L TDI 4 cylinder turbo engine generating 138 bhp and 320 Nm torque while the retuned variant generates 175 bhp and 380 Nm torque.

Audi began production of Q3 compact SUV earlier this year at their manufacturing unit in Martorell, Spain. The Martorell plant is owned by SEAT, VW’s Spanish subsidiary and has a capacity to manufacture 100,000 units of Q3 SUV annually. In India, Audi Q3 will compete with segment leader, BMW X1. Since the launch of X1, BMW car sales in India have reached a new high. Audi too will be hoping to achieve new heights in India with the launch of Q3.

Audi is currently ranked third in the luxury car market in India, after BMW and Mercedes. Audi wants to replace Mercedes Benz from the second spot within the next two years and take on market leader BMW at a later stage, to reach the pinnacle of India’s luxury car segment. Launch of Q3 SUV will play a major role in Audi’s plan to conquer India’s luxury car market.
