Audi shows how a smartwatch is enough to park your car [Video]
At the Audi press conference held on January 6, 2015 Prof. Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg, Board Member for Technical Development, and Ricky Hudi, Head of Development Electrics/Electronics presented the latest trends and products from Audi connect. Held at the Audi stand in North Hall, the most innovative of hardware and software solutions were demonstrated wherein Audi showcased four spectacular cars at Las Vegas to include the standard TT Roadster, RS 7 Sportback and R8 LMX besides the Audi prologue piloted driving showcar, exclusively built for CES.
Among these was the classiest smartwatch which has been made absolutely for Audi by LG. The smartwatch is a custom version of Android Wear but only shows off Audi software. Showcased in a video wherein an A3 e-tron owner comes home to notice his neighbour showing off his well trained dog doing some tricks. The Audi owner then decides to do some showing off of his own as he lets his own dog into his car, seats him at the wheel, hits a button on his watch and lets his car park itself in the garage thus making his neighbour’s jaw drop.
Soon after the car is parked, the vehicle is mated to a wireless recharging system and the owner is intimated by the smartphone app. The smartwatch sports a round display and has three buttons on its right side. No further details of this mystery smartwatch have been revealed and it is still unclear whether this devise is a future consumer LG smartwatch or a one off design that is used for this Audi demo.
