Today marked the launch of new Pulsar AS200 and AS150. AS here stands for Adventure Sport. These new motorcycles are designed for the adventure loving biking enthusiast who required a go-anywhere bike for weekend adventures.
Update: Bajaj Pulsar AS200 is based on the Pulsar NS200. Priced at Rs 91,550, ex-showroom Delhi, it is cheaper than NS200 by Rs 3. Product tech specs are defined as follows: AS200 gets power from a 199.5cc liquid cooled, SOHC, Tri-tech single cylinder engine capable of offering 23 bhp power at 9,500 rpm and 18.3 Nm torque at 8,000 rpm. The engine will deliver power to rear wheel via a 6 speed gearbox as is seen on other 200cc siblings.
Rajiv Bajaj with the new Bajaj Pulsar AS200Bajaj Pulsar AS200 receives projector headlamps (55 W low beam projector and 55 W High beam MFR), and quarter fairing as is seen on the Pulsar 220 while styling is borrowed from KTM adventure models. In the front there is a single projector lamp and regular halogen lamp while no LEDs are evident. The AS200 will also not receive fuel injection or ABS even though they are on offer on the new RS200.
The 200cc, single cyclinder, 4 stroke and 4 valve Triple Spark DTS-i engine offering uses a perimeter frame. The rear suspension is a Nitrox Mono shock absorber with canister and a telesopic with anti friction bush front suspension. Bajaj Pulsar AS200 is available in three colours: red, blue, black, and uses a 12 V Full DC MF electrical system.
To enable superior braking, at the front is a 280 dia disc. The rear is fitted with a 230 dia disc. Standard fitment tyres are as follows. Front: 100/80-17″, 52 P Tubeless. Rear: 130/70-17″ 62 P tubeless.
A 12 litre fuel tank sits upfront, and reserve usable fuel is marked at 2.4 l. Bajaj Pulsar AS200 dimensions are: Length: 20170 mm, width: 804 mm, height: 1205 mm. Ground clearance stands at 167 mm. Standing on a wheelbase of 1363 mm, Bajaj Pulsar AS200 kerb weight is measured at 153 kg.
Bajaj Pulsar AS200 and AS150 adds to the increasing line of Bajaj Auto’s Pulsar brand that includes 135 LS, 150, 180, 220, 200NS and RS200. After today’s launch, Bajaj has confirmed the launch of three new Pulsar motorcycles, one each in May, June and July. Though they did not reveal any name, we expect this to be in the form of new 150NS, 180NS and 400SS.
