While for past three months, Honda Activa was seen as best selling two wheeler in the country, data revealed by SIAM for September 2015 saw Hero MotoCorp’s Hero Splendor topple Activa’s No.1 position.
Hero MotoCorp reigned supreme with total sales at 606,744 units during September 2015, and it was their Hero Splendor that was in No. 1 position with 2,43,188 units sold during the month. Hero Splendor was also a lead position in September 2014 when 2,34,844 units were sold.
Following sales of Hero Splendor, 2,29,382 units of Honda Activa were sold in September 2015 pushing the model down to No. 2 spot. Despite losing its top spot, sales of Honda Activa increased by 8.8 percent as against sales in September 2014.
Top five positions continued with the same models as seen in September 2014 with Hero Splendor at the top followed by Honda Activa, Hero Passion, HF Deluxe and Honda CB Shine. TVS Jupiter with sales of 33,617 units in September 2014 was an increase of 45.3 percent in sales with total sales of 48,866 units in September 2015 thus gaining it a No. 10 spot on the list of best sellers.
Despite these increased sales, overall sales of two wheelers in the country have been far from satisfactory as is evident from the list detailed by SIAM. 4 out of 10 best sellers have seen negative growth during the past month of which TVS XL Super saw de-growth of 21.1 percent with 54,559 units sold in September 2015 as against 69,233 units sold in September 2014.
It was also HF Deluxe, CB Shine and Bajaj Pulsar that reported de-growth during the past month. While HF Deluxe and CB Shine continued to feature in 4th and 5th position in September 2015 as seen in September 2014, Bajaj Pulsar actually gained three spots to No. 6 in September 2015 as against a No.9 position in September 2014.
