Biking fraternity comes together to help save biker’s life after a crash – You too can help

Sebastian Selvaraj crashed during national bike racing championship at Irungattukottai track. On one corner, he slipped and fell on to the tarmac. Wearing full riding gear, this slip and fall did not injure him. But it is what happened next, that caused him serious injuries.

Just behind Selvaraj was another racer. Unfortunately, that racer could not move out of the way and his bike ran over Selvaraj’s stomach who was on the track, causing him multiple internal injuries. This happened on 8th July.

Soon an ambulance was called and Selvaraj was taken to a hospital, where he is now battling for his life. Its been almost 2 weeks since the accident and his condition remains critical. Selvaraj suffers from major internal injuries. His fall and the bike running over his stomach have caused damage to his cardio thoracic region, spleen, bladder, kidneys and intestines.

Doctors need to perform more surgeries, but the issue is of finance. Selvaraj did have insurance, but that was INR 5 lakh, which has already been exhausted. He is now in need financial help.

Selvaraj comes from a humble background. He funded his own biking career by driving an auto rickshaw on the streets of Chennai and has no means of paying for this expensive hospital treatment.

A respectable biker in the community, the city’s racing fraternity has come to his aid with an online fundraising campaign to raise money to pay for this treatment which could go upto INR 50 lakhs. As of writing this post, INR 3.66 lakh has been collected.

Support has been coming in from all quarters. Jagan Kumar, national champion, has urged the racing community to donate generously to this cause. If you can donate, please head to this link and make a donation.
