BMW G 310 R for Brazil to be locally assembled at new plant

BMW G 310 R for Brazil to be locally assembled at new Manaus plant

The BMW G 310 R is all set to enter production at the newly set up line within TVS’ Hosur plant as a part of the technology cooperation agreement between the two brands. The TVS facility will serve as the global production hub for the most affordable Beemer.

BMW Motorrad’s CEO Stephan Schaller recently announced that the company will inaugurate its own two-wheeler assembly plant in Manaus, Brazil in the second half of 2016 and the G 310 R will be one of the motorcycles to be locally assembled at the facility. The new plant is expected to replace the existing assembly facility (also located in Manaus) which is operated in association with Dafra Motos.

BMW GS 310 R adventure based on G 310 coming
The BMW G 310 R is the first production to come out of TVS-BMW technology cooperation agreement.

The G 310 R for Brazil is expected to be sourced from India as CKD kits. The Brazilian tax structure strongly encourages automakers to assemble the vehicles locally and hence the move to set up a new plant.

BMW Motorrad is planning to expand into emerging markets and attract new audience toward the brand. Local assembly of the G 310 R would help the company arrive at a competitive price tag in the largest two-wheeler market in Latin America. The German marque is planning to roll out 10,000 units from its Brazilian plant in 2017.
