The Rs. 2.29 crore hybrid sports car, BMW i8, was driven on 8-shaped elevated pathway by the company’s brand ambassador Sachin Tendulkar, preceded by a techno laser show, at the indoor auditorium of National Sports Club of India (Mumbai), yesterday. This was probably the most entertaining launch show in Indian auto history, nothing less of which the BMW i8 deserved.
BMW i8 was first showcased in India at 2014 Delhi Auto Expo. The company’s halo product is offered in six colour patterns, two of which were presented at the event – Sophisto Grey brilliant effect with highlight BMW i Blue, and Crystal White pearl effect with highlight BMW i Blue.
Other colour patterns available for order are Iconic Silver with highlight BMW i Blue, Protonic Blue with highlight Frozen Grey metallic, Crystal White pearl effect with highlight Frozen Grey metallic, and Sophisto Grey brilliant effect with highlight Frozen Grey metallic.
All BMW i8 models at the launch event had ’20 inch BMW i Lt/Aly wheels W-spoke 470 mixed tyres’, while choices include ’20 inch BMW i Lt/Aly wheels turbine 444 mixed tyres, BMW EffDyn’ and ’20 inch BMW i Lt/Aly wheels turbine 625 mixed tyres’.
Cabin of BMW i8 was furnished with ‘BMW i interior design Halo’ scheme, while choices add ‘BMW i interior design Carpo Amido black’, ‘BMW i interior design Carpo Ivory White’ and ‘BMW i interior design Neso’ themes.
Since the car is brought to India via CBU route, and it is made by pull-production method, BMW India would entertain order of any permutation of exterior colours, interior themes and alloy wheel designs.
