BMW India sells 7,816 cars in 2016 – Sales growth of 14%

BMW India revealed their sales report for the year 2016. The company registered sales of 7,861 cars through 2016, which is a 14% increase as against cars sold in 2015. This includes 7500 BMW cars and 361 MINI cars.

Speaking about their sales performance in 2016, Mr. Frank Schloeder, President (act.), BMW Group India said, “2016 has not been an easy year for the automotive industry and that applies equally to BMW Group India. During the course of the year, developments in the Indian economy and policy framework shook the mechanisms of the auto industry. BMW Group India was faced with challenges no less than any other automobile manufacturer and was confronted with strong pressure from the beginning of the year. Despite a challenging business environment, BMW Group India has increased sales and market share.”

Through 2016, BMW India launched a range of new cars, updated their ageing cars, and increased dealership network. Highlight launch of 2016 was that of the new generation 7 Series. The new generation BMW 7 Series is the most advanced and sophisticated luxury car BMW has ever built.

Aimed at attracting the attention of an elite set of buyers in India, 2016 BMW 7 Series is seen in a new design with a host of state of the art board technologies. Built on a new platform with added use of carbon fibre along with light-weight aluminium, steel and plastic components, the new BMW 7 Series is lighter by 130 kgs as compared to its earlier counterpart.

There are several new features on board the 7 Series which are seen for the first time on a BMW vehicle. These include iDrive 5.0 with Hand Gesture Control, autonomous parking and carbon fibre body structure. It will also be the first BMW based on RWD CLAR Cluster Architecture and with four-wheel steering.

Exteriors of the 2016 BMW 7-Series will be seen with an active kidney-shaped grille with air flap controls. It will get optional laser light while LED headlamp and tail lamp is standard. Sitting on stylish new alloys, ranging in size from 18” to 21”, interiors get four-zone climate controls, heated seats with arm rests while rear seats and massage function are also offered. Sky lounge panoramic glass roof, smartphone holder, head-up display and adjustable rear entertainment screen besides a folding table and a 7” touchscreen tablet are other features on offer.

New 7 Series was launched at 2016 Auto Expo by Sachin Tendulkar.

2016 BMW 7-Series BMW 730d will be powered by a B57 6 cylinder diesel engine offering 265 PS peak power. BMW 750i is powered by a 4.4-liter V8 twin turbo petrol engine capable of 444 PS. Both engines are mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission.
