Diwali 2017 is just around the corner. This period is when car and bike sales peak across India. In order to get the maximum traction, dealers of car and bike launch innovative schemes and offers to attract consumers.
Gayatri Motors, a Hero MotoCorp dealer from Tamil Nadu Sivaganga district came up with a rather unique scheme of Buy a Bike and Get a Goat Free. One would think that who will go for this scheme? Well you are wrong.
The dealer came up with this idea to attract buyers to the company showroom and gain more sales with the upcoming festive season. Rival dealers offered free sofa sets with every purchase. He literally thought out of the box, and without putting much thought into it, announced this offer – Buy a bike, get a goat free.
The scheme was to be on through 4 days from October 11-14, 2017. The dealer started advertising about this offer. Within a matter of few hours, he started receiving enquiries in huge numbers. Though the offer was to start on the 11th October, the dealer got over 100 bookings on the first day of announcement itself!
Such traction got the dealer thinking. He now decided to check for the availability of bikes as well as goats. After a rough calculation, he came to the conclusion that neither he was able to deliver bikes, nor will he be able to procure the goats in such a short period of time.
It would have costed him about Rs 3,000 per goat. This could have been the turning point in him cancelling the offer even before it started. All customers who made advance bookings for the goat offer, have been notified of this withdrawal of the scheme and the dealer is planning another Diwali offer to entice customers back into showrooms.
