Thieves driving around in Toyota Innova to steal bikes, cars – Caught by Police
This gang of thieves in Uttar Pradesh, found an innovative way to steal high end motorcycles and cars from posh localities.
Ghaziabad: Last week, Ghaziabad Kotwali police have arrested 5 vehicle thieves. The gang includes minor members. Upon arrest, the police recovered 4 luxury cars and 15 two-wheelers, and a bunch of duplicate keys.
The accused avoided being detected by conducting recces seated in expensive cars. They would park at office parking bays and inside housing societies without drawing attention to themselves. Upon shortlisting vehicles to be stolen, they’d rob cars with the help of duplicate keys.
SSP Vaibhav Krishna told the press that during a routine checking near Gorang factory on Monday evening, and a Toyota Innova heading from Lalkuan to Delhi was stopped. Upon inspection the car was found to have a fake number plate. All 5 occupants were arrested- Bijnor resident Imran, Krishna aka Happy, Vishal from Vaishali, Somendra, a resident of Lakhimpur, and a minor boy. They were found in possession of three knives and duplicate keys.
Police are on the lookout for two absconding gang members. To trace original owners, vehicle chassis numbers are being traced to figure where the vehicle shave been stolen from. The gang was in the habit of changing number identifications to thwart any attempt to track the stolen vehicles.
The accused would target areas that did not have CCTV. Upon settling on a target, they used a master key to get on with the job. In the past two years, they have successfully made more than 50 attempts at stealing vehicles, making them quite adept at it.
With a vehicle stolen in a matter of seconds, the accused would sell them at heavily discounted rates in neighbouring districts. During questioning the arrested car thieves revealed that the gang leader is a minor from Vaishali.
