By discontinuing the Enjoy, the American automaker will exit the Indian MPV segment.

Struggling with lackluster sales, GM India is gearing up for a comprehensive product rejig in the coming years. The company recently announced that it has axed the plan to launch Spin MPV here.

In what is a surprising development, Economic Times reports that the automaker is gearing up to discontinue the ailing Chevrolet Enjoy MPV. There is no replacement on the horizon.

The Chevrolet Enjoy is being made at Halol facility.

The Enjoy is being manufactured at the Halol plant in Gujarat which is up for sale. GM has reportedly produced 3,900 units of the Enjoy to be dispatched in the coming months.

The Enjoy which is essentially a rebadged Chinese Wuling HongGuang was launched in India in 2013 and received a facelift in 2015. A bland design and outdated interior meant that the people carrier didn’t actually take off.

In an attempt to restructure its operations in India and cut down the losses, GM has been trying to shut its Halol plant and sell it off. The closure which was initially slated to happen in August 2016 is reportedly postponed to March 2017. Discontinuation of the Enjoy takes the company one step closer to shutting the facility.
