Rushlane reader Anuj Kanojia has managed to capture these spyshots of the Chevrolet Spin MPV test mule in Delhi. GM India has announced that the 7-seater will go on sale sometime next year.
To be positioned above the slow selling Enjoy MPV, the Spin appears to be better equipped to take on the Maruti Ertiga, Honda Mobilio and Renault Lodgy. GM India is expected to use dyes, tools and equipment that would be transported from the automaker’s shuttered Indonesian plant.
The Spin for the Indian market is expected to be offered with the same powertrain lineup that is being offered in the Enjoy. The popular 1.3-litre diesel engine is likely to be offered in its 75 PS avatar while the 1.4-litre petrol motor has 100.2 PS on store. Both motors will be mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.
The variant spied appears to be of top-end LTZ trim as suggested by the alloy wheels. The compact people carrier’s design is characterized by a signature dual-port grille and large headlamps. The flat roofline and mildly contoured sheet metal surfaces define the profile while low-set taillights and a huge tailgate round off the design.
The design and layout of the dual-tone layout interior is at par with the segment. Fully-loaded variant is expected to feature a touchscreen infotainment system, dual airbags, ABS, fog lights, electrically controlled mirrors, automatic climate control, etc.
Expect the Chevrolet Spin to be priced between INR 8-11 lakhs (ex-showroom).
