Even as Tata Motors continues to face challenges in its passenger vehicle segment, the company is optimistic of its journey ahead. Tata Motors has identified 8 strategic imperatives and will be addressing each of these to bring about a change of fortunes for the company.
For a start, Tata Motors has set up cross-functional teams consisting of executives from all levels with special emphasis on younger leaders as has been indicated by Mistry in an in-house interview on company website.
In addition to this, at the ground level, Tata Motors has decided on making their vendor partners leaner. Those who do not deliver quality products will soon be removed. This strategy has already shown promising results signaling the start of better outcome.
The company’s latest product, Tiago has become their best selling car, registering about 5,000 monthly sales. This is the first time in years that any Tata car has been posting such impressive sales numbers. In addition to this, the future line-up of the company has already got buyers excited.
Future launches include Hexa premium SUV, Nexon compact SUV, Kite5 sedan. This 3 cars will be on road before the end of 2017. Apart from this, the company is also working on new generation Safari and a completely new SUV, both these are being built on the older Land Rover Discover platform. These two are expected to be launched in 2018.
“We have a rich pipeline of innovative products that I am confident will redefine Tata Motors in the future,” Mistry said.
