Following the launches of the X-Trail in the coming months and Kicks crossover by 2018, Nissan India is reported to be gearing up to introduce the Datsun Go-Cross budget crossover in the middle of 2019.
The Go-Cross which was previewed by a near production design concept at the Tokyo Motor Show last year will be based on Renault-Nissan’s CMF-A+ platform (likely to be a larger version of the redi-Go’s CMF-A).
The Go-Cross will be aiming to take advantage of India’s love for crossovers. Estimated to be priced between INR 5-10 lakhs, the fourth Datsun model for India will compete with the likes of Ford EcoSport and Maruti Vitara Brezza.
Not much is know about the specifications as of now but being a sub-4 m product, it’s reasonable to expect the existing 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol motor and 1.5-litre K9K diesel engine (Renault-sourced) to constitute powertrain lineup. While a 5-speed manual transmission will be standard, Datsun could also offer AMT (Automated Manual Transmission).

The Datsun Go-Cross adopts a bolder version of the brand’s design language. Design highlights of the concepts include the signature chrome grille, LED-infused headlamps, auxiliary circular headlamps, LED foglights, grey lower body cladding, multi-color alloy wheels, LED lights and so on.
