Datsun Go-Cross Concept to debut as Datsun Cross – Teased

What was showcased as the Go-Cross Concept by Datsun, is now all set for launch. It is based on the CMF-A+ platform.

The Go-Cross which was previewed by a near production design concept at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show. It is based on Renault-Nissan’s CMF-A+ platform (likely to be a larger version of the redi-Go’s CMF-A). The concept was also showcased in India, at the 2016 Auto Expo.

Now, a little more than two years later, the production ready variant of the same concept, is all set to make global debut in Indonesia on the 18th of January 2018. First teaser has been revealed, which confirms the name of the car, and it is Cross, not Go-Cross.

The Go-Cross will target the likes Ford EcoSport and Maruti Vitara Brezza.

Expected to make India debut at the 2018 Auto Expo next month, the new Datsun Cross will be aiming to take advantage of India’s love for crossovers. Estimated to be priced between INR 5-10 lakhs, the fourth Datsun model for India will compete with the likes of Ford EcoSport and Maruti Vitara Brezza. Expect India launch to take place in 2019.

Not much is know about the specifications as of now but being a sub-4 m product, it’s reasonable to expect the existing 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol motor and 1.5-litre K9K diesel engine (Renault-sourced) to constitute powertrain lineup. While a 5-speed manual transmission will be standard, Datsun could also offer AMT (Automated Manual Transmission).
