Datsun Redi Go 1000cc Launched, Prices Start at Rs 3.57 Lakh

Datsun India has launched the new 1000cc variants of its Redi GO entry-level hatchback. So far, this A-segment model offered a 0.8-litre engine only. Now, however, Datsun will offer a 1.0-litre engine on the top-end S and T(O) trims. Prices of the new Datsun Redi GO 1000cc range start at Rs 3.57 Lakh, ex-showroom. The fully loaded car costs Rs 3.72 lakh lakh. If you compare with the corresponding trims of the 800cc engine variant, the new models cost up to Rs 25,000 more. Thanks to the introduction of a bigger, more powerful engine, this entry-level hatchback from Datsun India has got fairly more powerful. However, the ARAI-claimed mileage figure, at 22.5 KMPL, is only 0.2 KMPL lower than what the small engine variant offers.

The Redi GO was first launched in 2016. While it continues to offer the 0.8-litre engine, Datsun has now decided to offer a bigger, more powerful motor on select high-end trims. The new 1000cc motor for the Redi GO is the same three-cylinder unit that also powers the Renault Kwid 1.0. This petrol engine has a maximum power of 67 BHP along with a peak torque rating of 91 Nm. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox at the moment but the launch of an AMT variant shouldn’t be too far away in the offing. The Redi GO is underpinned by the CMF architecture from the Renault-Nissan group.

The new 1.0-litre model of the Redi GO is available in the high-end S and T(O) trims only. If you compare the prices with the corresponding variants of the 800cc Redi GO, the new models command a price premium of up to Rs 25,000. In comparison with the prices of the Kwid 1.0, there’s a difference of up to Rs 40,00 (redi-go is cheaper). Bookings for this model have been open since some time now. You can book the new car at any authorized dealership for a sum of Rs 10,000. On sale at a starting price of Rs 3.57 Lakh, the Redi GO 1.0 comes across as a very well priced car. A stylish exterior, spacious interior and a efficient-yet-powerful engine makes this car an attractive option for those in the entry-level car market.

The new Redi GO 1.0 comes with the same three-pot 1.0-litre motor that can be found under the hood of the Kwid 1.0. It’s worth a mention here that this bargain-basement hatchback started off with a 799cc Petrol engine that pushed out 53 BHP and 72 Nm. In comparison, the new 1000cc engine offers significant gains with both Power and Torque figures. The new engine belts out 67 BHP and 91 Nm. At the moment only a 5-speed manual gearbox is on offer. But we expect the launch of an AMT model in few months from now. Nissan-Datsun has deemed it unnecessary to make any changes in the suspension or brakes. The original suspension settings and brakes have been found adequate to handle slightly more weight and power. Unfortunately, ABS isn’t being offered, no, not even as an optional extra.

Datsun redi Go 1000cc Mileage

[table id=165 /]

In spite of a significant increase in power, ARAI figures show only a small drop in the mileage of the car. While the 0.8-litre variant offers 22.7 KMPL, the new 1.0 model boasts an ARAI-tested mileage figure of 22.5 KMPL, which is down by a negligible 0.2 KMPL. Even if there’s a slightly bigger drop in the real world conditions, we feel it’s a small price to pay for the extra power the new car offers. The Redi GO has 28-litres of fuel tank capacity. This translates into a range of 630 KMs.

Datsun redi Go 1000cc Features

Let’s not forget that the Redi GO 1.0 caters to the budget-end of the market. Hence, it doesn’t get a really long list of features. On the contrary, it gets exactly the same features as its less powerful sibling. Available only in the S and T(O) trim levels, the new 1000cc version offers essentials like a power steering, driver’s side airbag and central locking. Except for the new key fob with integrated remote for the central locking, there’s really no other significant addition to the car’s features list. This could have been so in an attempt to keep the prices under a check. Here’s the features list of the new car-

All-black Interior
Driver’s side Airbag
Engine immobilizer
Power Steering
Central Locking
Power Windows
Digital Tachometer
Air Conditioning
Audio System with Remote Control
AUX and USB support
Both side ORVMs
DRLs

As must have been evident to you by now, there’s major change save for the introduction of the new engine. Structurally the car remains bog similar to its less powerful sibling. Hence, there’s really no difference in the dimensions as well. The Redi GO offers a tallboy structure and a rather large DLO. This translates into a very roomy cabin. The car enjoys a best-in-class ground clearance of 185 mm. Just to let you know, the Hyundai Creta offers a ground clearance of 180 mm.

The new 1000cc Redi GO will become a direct rival to 1.0-litre variants of all the entry-level hatchbacks. These include- Maruti Alto K10, Hyundai Eon 1.0 and Renault Kwid 1.0.

Datsun rediGo 1000cc Exterior & Interior

The new 1.0-litre variants look almost the same as the 0.8-litre counterparts. Except for a new 1.0 badge, there’s really nothing the two engine variants apart. We were expecting the new car to gets some body decals (a la Renault Kwid 1.0). However, Nissan-Datsun has kept the changes to minimum. This has helped them price the car competitively. That said, we still feel a set of new design wheel caps or some body graphics could have made the car look trendier. What do you think?

While the exterior of the car doesn’t get any change to speak of, the interior of the new engine variant enjoys some updates. To begin with, the cabin gets an all-black treatment. The new color tone looks a lot more premium than the lighter beige-grey tone used on the less powerful models. Also, the aircon vents get some faux silver highlights on their circumference. The speedo console has a digital display for the fuel level, tachometre and some other telltale signs. We have always liked the Redi GO for its very spacious cabin. The 1000cc variant is no different in this regard. The car offers enough space to for 4 adults to travel in reasonable comfort. The boot can swallow 222-litres of luggage. The new 1000cc models get optional Black-red seat upholstery and a gloss-black trim for the centre console.
