250 units of Maruti Ertiga and Mahindra Bolero were inducted into the Delhi Police Fleet
Gone are the days when the Indian police force travelled in open jeeps. The nation’s police force are now known to drive around in new and sophisticated fleet of vehicles that are modern in all respects and fitted with the latest in safety equipment.
This is exactly what has happened in Delhi where the Police Force have been allotted several new models from Maruti Suzuki, Mahindra and Toyota for their daily patrolling schedule. A total of 850 such vehicles have been approved for operations and patrolling. These include 300 Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, 200 Mahindra Bolero, 100 Mahindra Scorpio and 250 Toyota Innova.
Delhi Police Patrolling Vehicles
These vehicles will be equipped with the latest security gadgets to safeguard foreign dignitaries who will be in the city to attend the upcoming G-20 Summit scheduled to be held on 9th and 10th September 2023. The first lot 100 Ertiga and 150 Bolero were flagged off by Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena, while the rest will be added gradually.
Following the Ministry of Home Affairs’ approval for procurement of 850 units of light motor vehicles for Delhi Police, efficiency and mobility of the department will see significant improvement. These vehicles will be deployed across the various police stations and will assist the police in their patrolling and other operations.
As on date it is only 250 units of the Ertiga and Bolero added to the fleet while remaining vehicles will be introduced gradually over the next few months. Remaining units of Ertiga, Scorpio, Bolero and Innova will join their fleet in the coming weeks.

It also receives a more powerful 1.5 liter K Series petrol engine that offers 104 hp power and 138 Nm torque, mated to a 5 speed manual or 6 speed automatic transmission unit. It offers improved fuel efficiency over its earlier counterpart. As per ARAI certification, the new Ertiga offers 19.34 km/l for 5 speed MT and 18.69 km/l for 6 speed AT.
Mahindra Bolero 7 seater 3 row model is a top seller in the company lineup. It is powered by a 1.5 liter mHawk turbo diesel engine offering 75 hp power and 210 Nm torque mated to a 5 speed manual gearbox.
