With constant appeals to riders to wear helmets falling on deaf ears and road accidents and deaths increasing with each passing year, serious initiatives are required to promote the use of helmets and application of various other safety measures.
?Droom, India’s first online marketplace to buy and sell new and used automobiles and services has come up with a unique idea to promote road safety. The company has launched a campaign wherein helmets are offered at INR 9 per helmet. This is the fourth such round of sales and Sandeep Aggarwal, Founder and CEO, Droom has stated that the initiative taken has seen much promise.
The MRP of these helmets is INR 750 but is being offered at this very low price so as to attract a larger number of buyers. Set for the middle of each month, the next date is – June 15, 2017. The fifth round of this campaign was held on 23rd May and orders to date amount to more than 65,000 of which Droom has completed over 52,000 orders. To ensure this low price, the company has entered into an alliance with helmet manufacturers and vendors. Each helmet is ISI certified and sports the Droom branding with either ‘Droom’ or ‘Orange Book Value’ logos.
Road accidents involving two wheeler riders have been rising in India with a life claimed every 4 minutes. Last year, the total number of people died are 1,49,650 and 25% are involved in two wheelers. The sale of these helmets at INR 9 should instigate more users to wear helmets while the company looks forward to conduction more such initiatives over the next few months to promote the idea of safe driving in India.
