India’s most expensive bike at INR 1.12 crore, Ducati 1299 Superleggera delivered to 1st owner

First ever Ducati to be equipped with a carbon fiber frame, the new 1299 Ducati Superleggera has been delivered to its first customer in India. Lighter, yet structurally stronger any other Ducati on sale, it is priced from INR 1.12 crore, ex-showroom in India – making it the most expensive two wheeler ever to have gone on sale in India.

Launched in India back in Jan this year, today is the day when the first owner of Ducati 1299 Superleggera in India was delivered his machine. Vikram Oberoi, on buying the country’s first 1299 Superleggera said – “Ducati make exceptional motorcycles and it’s a privilege for me to be one of Ducati’s customer in India. There is no better motorcycle manufacturer when it comes to performance bikes or bikes ridden on a racetrack.”

The delivery took place earlier today at the BIC.

New 1299 Ducati Superleggera gets new monocoque frame, subframe, swingarm, fairings, and wheels. The new frame results in 1.7 kg weight reduction compared to the non-carbon counterpart. With a seat height of 830mm, the 1299 Superleggera gets power from the 1285cc L-twin Superquadro engine and returns 215 bhp output.

Stronger and lighter with kerb mass of 167 kg, i.e., 156kg dry, its lightweight structure is furthered with an aluminium petrol tank. The multi-adjustable 43 mm inverted fork Ohlins FL936 suspension weighs 1.35 kg less than the Ohlins fork seen on Panigale R. The Ohlins TTX36 shock absorber features a titanium spring that reduces another half kilo in weight. Brembo brakes, 330mm Brembo discs enclosed by Brembo M50 monobloc calipers, and new TT29OP1 brake pads are controlled by a MCS 19.21 radial pump.

The superbike’s carbon fibre weight reduction includes BST wheels for Ducati that save 1.4 kg and 26 percent less rolling resistance in front and 44 percent in the rear wheel. Wheels are encased in Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP rubber.

Fitted with electronic control package, the 6-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (6D IMU) takes charge of Ducati Traction Control, Ducati Slide Control, Ducati Power Launch, and Engine Brake Control. Bidirectional Ducati Quick Shifter, and Bosch Cornering ABS system make riding the superbike safer.

Apart from the Ducati Data Analyser+ data capture system, the race kit comprises a titanium Akrapovic race exhaust, race screen, plate holder removal kit, kickstand removal kit, billet mirror plugs, front and rear paddock stands, and bike cover.
