Ferrari 488 Spider goes official before public debut in Frankfurt

Ferrari 488 Spider will come in with an aerodynamic design. It will also get a blown spoiler and aerodynamic underbody. Apart from this, it sports an electric glass rear wind stop that can be adjusted to one of three positions. Built on a super frame chassis constructed out of 11 various aluminium alloys, tonsorial rigidity is enhanced while beam stiffness is improved.

Ferrari 488 Spider sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 3 seconds flat and from 0 to 200 km/h in 8.7 seconds.

Measuring 4568 mm (179.8 in) in length, 1952 mm (76.9 in) in width and 1211 mm (47.7 in) in height, the Ferrari 488 Spider sits on a wheelbase measuring 2650 mm (104.3 in). The 488 Spider weighs a total of 1420 kgs and has fuel tank capacity of 78 liters. Interiors are spacious while boot space stands at 230 liters.

Engine specifications on board the Ferrari 488 Spider include a 3.9 liter V8 twin turbo engine also seen on the 488 GTB. This engine is capable of 670 PS peak power at 8,000 rpm and 760 Nm peak torque at 3,000 rpm mated to a 7 speed F1 dual clutch transmission. Acceleration from 0 to 100 kmph is achieved in 3 seconds going upto 200 kmph in 8.7 seconds while top speed stands at 327 kmph.

It is remarkably easy to drive on the limit thanks to flawless handling even on the most demanding of roads – Ferrari.

With sales expected to commence from later this year, the drop-top version of 488 GTB mid-engine racer will have a hard top retractable roof that lowers in 14 seconds while Ferrari has confirmed that it will be lighter than the soft top convertible. Ferrari 488 Spider to be unveiled at Frankfurt Motor Show in September is expected to retail for around $275,000(INR 1,75,57,375).
