Fiat Punto Abarth top speed and mileage leaked

The Fiat Punto Abarth performance hatchback is just around the corner and Team Fiat Motoclub has unearthed patent sketches and specifications of the hot hatchback.

The go-faster derivative of the Punto was showcased on the sidelines of the Abarth 595 Competizione edition launch, at the Buddh International Circuit in first week of August 2015.

Fiat Abarth Punto will be available in two colour options – black and white – with red decals on the hood, roof, tailgate and on the doors. The red accent can also been seen on grille and foglight enclosures. Further highlighting its sporty character would be a set of 16-inch Scorpion Sting alloy wheels. The Abarth Punto ditches Fiat badges in favor of the trademark Scorpion badges.

The interior adopts full black colour theme with exclusive seat fabrics and contrast red & yellow stitching. Sporty aluminium pedals will be on offer. The equipment level is expected to be same as the top-end variant of the regular Punto.

On comparing the Abarth Punto with segment rivals, it comes out a clear winner, on paper.

Under the hood lies a pumped up version of Fiat Linea’s 1.4-litre T-Jet turbocharged petrol engine which delivers an impressive 145 PS and 212 Nm of torque. The motor is capable of propelling the hatchback from rest to ton in a quick 8.8 seconds. The strong performance is reportedly accompanied by a claimed mileage of 16.3 kmpl.

To handle the additional capability, Fiat has introduced rear disc brakes and stiffened suspension with reduced ride height (ground clearance of 155 mm).

Fiat India has commenced bookings already at INR 50,000 with launch expected in the coming weeks. Prices are estimated to be in the ball park of INR 10 lakhs (ex-showroom).
