Fiat Tipo features in first ever TVC for buyers in Italy

Fiat Tipo / Aegea compact saloon is slated for launch in Europe, Middle East and Africa in early 2016, while launch in India is yet unconfirmed.

Unveiled some time earlier in Turkey, the Fiat Tipo / Aegea now features in a new promotional video exclusively for buyers in Italy. Slated to come in at a base price of €12,500 ($13,700 / INR 9,08,069), while price for top end variant will be in the region of €16,500 ($18,000 / INR 11,93,084).

Fiat Tipo / Aegea will be produced in Turkey at the company’s Tofas facility in Bursa. It will be sold as the Aegea in Turkish markets while across Europe it will be marketed as the Tipo. Besides in sedan format, the company is also developing a five door hatchback while an estate variant is also in the making and expected to launch sometime next year.

Measuring 4.54 metres in length, 1.79 metres in width and 1.49 metres in height and sitting on a wheelbase of 2.64 metres, the Fiat Tipo / Aegea receives boot space of 520 liters. Interiors sport Fiat UConnect touchscreen, 5” infotainment system and hands free Bluetooth system besides audio streaming, voice recognition and AUX and USB ports.

Fiat Tipo / Aegea will be powered by a 1.4 liter petrol engine offering 95PS power and 127 Nm torque. It will also get a 1.6 liter engine capable of 110 PS power and 152 Nm torque. Diesel engines will include 1.3 liter engine offering 95 PS power and a 1.6 liter engine with 120 PS power. Fiat has confirmed receipt of 1,000 pre-orders in Italy while 6,000 customers have taken test drives.

Though launch in India is yet unannounced, the Fiat Tipo / Aegea is set to replace the aging Linea while it will compete with Honda City and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz in the mid sized segment in the country.
