A Bosnian company has built an ICE version of the Cybertruck on the insistence of a customer
Electric Vehicles (EVs) pioneer Tesla revealed its ambitious Cybertruck prototype last year and made everybody sit up and take notice. As futuristic it looked, it left many people extremely polarised about its design. At the time of its reveal, the makers announced that it will be relatively more affordable and will provide an impressive range.
However, EV fanatics had to cool their socks off since the production-spec would not be available in markets by late 2021. It seems one such EV aficionado from Bosnia wasn’t able to keep his patience and took it upon himself to build a version of the futuristic looking Cybertruck.
Bosnian company Stark Solutions has build a rendition of the ambitious Cybertruck at the behest of a client. The Cybertruck replica is based upon a Ford F-150 Raptor and is essentially the same IC engine powered pickup truck. Over a period of eight months, engineers and technicians at Stark Solutions dismantled every bit and component of the rugged pickup truck and reassembled it to make it look like a Cybertruck.
Stark Solutions Manager, Mario Coric, admitted that the first drive through the southern Bosnian town of Mostar garnered quite a bit of attention. Even though it looks very similar to the Cybertruck EV, it is still powered by a petrol engine. The F-150 Raptor is powered by a 450 bhp producing V6 twin turbocharged petrol engine which is mated to a 10-speed automatic. It is one of the finest performing pickup trucks as it is able to breach 0-100 kmph in just 5.3 seconds.
Coric also admitted that the next step for the company is to register this petrol version of Cybertruck so that it might be able to take the roads. However, that might be a serious challenge as the sharp edges replicated from Cybertruck on to the pickup are not legal on Bosnian roads. He further added that onlookers had been wondering if it is the place where Cybertruck is going to be manufactured.
Tesla Cybertruck
After an intense battle with neighbouring state Oklahoma, Tesla finally decided to commission the Cybertruck manufacturing facility near Austin in Texas at a mammoth $1.1 billion. The development was formally announced by Tesla CEO, Elon Musk in July this year.
The Cybertruck is created from a reassembled armoured vehicle and has been priced at $39,000. It will be interesting to know the reactions from Ford and Tesla about this Cybertruck replica.
