The current SYNC infotainment system uses a simple black-blue display.

In an attempt to enhance the Ford Figo twins’ appeal, the company is reported to be developing a touchscreen infotainment system. The growing popularity of this feature across all the segments in India have prompted the car maker to work on it.

The hatchback and compact sedan, however, are not likely to receive the upmarket feature before the mid-life refresh which is due for 2018, reports Autocar India.

The Figo twins are struggling to meet the company’s sales expectations.

Following the introduction of a new touchscreen infotainment system in the Figo twins, the company may extend the feature to all of the new models that are destined for India. The system is expected to carry forward the SYNC branding.

The new touchscreen system would warrant a major redesign of the centre console as the current location of the infotainment screen is too far up to be accessed easily while driving.

The new touchscreen infotainment system warrants redesigning of the dashboard.

The touchscreen infotainment system has been rising in popularity ever since the Kwid introduced the feature in the A-segment. Since then, a lot of other products including the Hyundai i20 got upgraded.
