First lot of Ford Mustang GT has already been sold out.

Showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo, the new Ford Mustang became the best-selling sports car in the world earlier this year. Now, launched in India in July 2016, Ford Mustang GT has become India’s best selling sports car.

New Mustang GT has been a hit among buyers in the country. For the month of July 2016, 35 units were sold (For reference, other cars in the segment, with engine of 5.0L V8 and above manage to sell about 5-10 units in a year). New Ford Mustang GT is priced at INR 65 lakhs in India and comes in via the CBU route.

Ford Mustang GT is offered in six colour options that include Absolute Black, Ingot Silver, Oxford White, Triple Yellow Tricoat, Magnetic and signature Race Red. It is powered by a 5.0 liter V8 engine mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox offering 395 bhp power and 515 Nm torque. The setup allows acceleration from 0 to 100 kmph in 4 seconds and a top speed of 250 kmph.

The Ford Mustang GT boasts of features such as 19” wheels, HID headlamps, LED tail lamps and rear diffuser besides dual zone climate control, 9 speaker sound system and SYNC-2 connectivity. Overall, Ford India noted a 35.26% increase in sales during the month of July with a total of 17,742 units sold during the month as against 13,116 units sold in July 2015. Domestic sales stood at 7,076 units, up 62.21% as against 4,362 units sold in July 2016 while exports also increased 21.84% during the past month.

      Price-wise, it competes with the Audi TT, BMW Z4, Mercedes AMG SLC43, Mercedes AMG CLA45, Mercedes AMG GLA45, Audi S5, etc. If you take engine capacity into consideration, there are cars like BMW M3, M4, M6, Audi RS6, RS7, Mercedes AMG GT S, Audi R8 and so on.
