Overdrive reports that the Ford Mustang pony car is finally set to be launched in India on January 28. The immensely popular American sportscar will be positioned as the brandshaper and will be imported into India as a CBU.
The sixth gen Mustang is all about sharpened up features and an upmarket interior. In its five decades of existence, this is the first time the car is also being built in RHD configuration.
Internationally, the Mustang is available with three engine options. The entry level 3.7-liter V6 Ti-VCT V6 petrol engine dishes out 300 PS. The downsized 2.3-litre EcoBoost turbo petrol unit has 310 PS on store while the range-topping 5.0-litre V8 petrol motor is capable of a heady 435 PS. The motors are mated either to a 6-speed manual or an automatic transmission, sending power to the rear wheels. We expect Ford India to launch the Mustang in its range topping avatar.
The sportscar will come packed with features such as SYNC 3 touchscreen multimedia system, launch control, engine start/stop button, Shaker Pro audio system with 12 speakers, BLIS (Blind spot Information System) and the usual array of safety features.
The Ford Mustang has no direct competitor in India. Expect the car to carry a price tag of around INR 70 lakhs (ex-showroom).
