Production of Ford Mustang RHD has commenced at its Flat Rock assembly plant in Michigan. This is the first time the American automaker is offering a RHD version of its famed pony car and it has already clocked almost 2,000 bookings in the UK.
The unprecedented demand has prompted Ford to ramp up Mustang’s production capacity. The first batch of RHD Mustangs will reach their British owners in November this year.
According to the company data, 80% of the UK customers have opted for the fastback body style rather than the convertible. 70% of customers went for the 416 PS 5.0-litre V8 variant over the more efficient 2.3-litre EcoBoost turbo petrol which puts out 317 PS.
The 6-speed manual transmission has proved to be more popular on the other side of the Atlantic, as it accounted for nearly 60% of the orders. The car is also available with a 6-speed automatic transmission with SelectShift paddle shifters.

The car made a brief trip to India for market study and regulatory testing purposes but it remains to be seen whether it will be launched here or not.
