Hero Glamour BS6 launch price Rs 69k – Many changes, 19% more power

Hero Glamour BS6 launch price starts at Rs 68,900 ex-showroom for the base drum-brake variant.

Hero MotoCorp has launched the BS6-compliant avatar of the Glamour commuter motorcycle at a starting price of Rs 68,900 for the base drum-brake variant. The higher disc-brake variant of the new Hero Glamour BS6 is priced at Rs 72,400. Both prices mentioned here are ex-showroom.

The 2020 Hero Glamour is remarkably different from its outgoing BS4 avatar in terms of looks. There are quite a few updates to the overall design, but Hero MotoCorp has retained the design philosophy of its latest commuter motorcycles with a bit of sportiness and modernism. The blacked-out theme adds a good contrast to the primary shade of paint. Overall, the Hero Glamour BS6 is a decent-looking motorcycle in its segment. Hero MotoCorp offers it in four choices of colour: Radiant Red, Techno Blue, Tornado Grey and Sports Red.

Hero Glamour BS6

The Hero Glamour BS6 is built around an all-new chassis which features a diamond frame instead of the tubular double-cradle unit of the BS4 model. The commuter gets wider tyres, extra suspension travel (14% more at the front and 10% more at the rear) and 30% higher ground clearance.

The updated instrument cluster goes well with the motorcycle’s design and sports a fuel-economy indicator as well. The motorcycle features ‘crawl’ function which essentially allows it to move in slow-moving traffic without having to work with the clutch lever. A similar system is seen in the new BS6 TVS Apache models.

As mentioned at the very beginning, the 2020 Hero Glamour BS6 packs more power than its predecessor. The fuel-injected 125cc engine makes 19% more power than its carburetted BS4 counterpart which was good for 11.4bhp and 11Nm of torque. Furthermore, the motor is coupled to a 5-speed transmission, unlike the BS4 unit which employed a 4-speed. The FI system will aid in fuel economy and refinement since the mixture of air and fuel going into the cylinder for combustion will be optimal, in comparison to a conventional carburetted engine that depends on a lot of external factors for its best functioning.

The new Hero Glamour BS6 rivals the likes of the Honda CB Shine 125, Bajaj Pulsar 125 and many other products in the 125cc motorcycle category on the Indian market. Thanks to the host of changes, the Hero Glamour BS6 has become one of the most desirable commuters on the market. It ticks enough boxes in terms of looks and features, and the more powerful engine mated to a 5-speed transmission will surely make it a better performer.
